The anvil is ringing louder than ever in Eren Keep. Sun and Serpent Creations, in partnership with publisher Mythwright, has officially released the first major content milestone for their acclaimed swordsmithing RPG, Bladesong.
Available starting today, April 20, 2026, Chapter 2: The Shattered Mask significantly expands the game’s narrative and mechanical depth, moving the story beyond the initial refugee camps and deeper into the heart of a city governed by the enigmatic Masked King.
New Factions and Political Intrigue
As the mystery of the missing orphans deepens, players must now navigate the competing interests of two brand-new factions. Each brings a unique aesthetic and philosophy to the forge:
- The Anointed: Once the spiritual leaders during the “Age of Song,” this group has seen its influence crumble. They seek to reclaim their lost authority, offering players sword part sets inspired by their rich pantheon, including designs from Canthos the Pale Piper.
- The Houndsburg League: The ruthless economic engine of Eren Keep. As the premier merchant guild, they control the flow of rare designs and materials. Partnering with them grants access to exotic sword parts from across the dying world.
Gameplay Evolution: Beyond the Blade
This update isn’t just about more story; it’s about a more robust simulation experience. Key features included in today’s launch:
- Replication Commissions: A new challenge mode where customers provide a specific silhouette. Players must master hilt assembly and blade forging to match the provided shape with surgical precision.
- Forge Upgrades & Showroom: You can now invest your hard-earned coin into permanent forge benefits. The update also introduces a Showroom, allowing you to display your finest creations to customers and customise your workspace with decorative items.
- Creative Mode Enhancements: For the community’s master smiths, the update streamlines the transition between modes. Recent Story Mode creations can now be imported directly into Creative Mode for further refinement or 3D printing export (STL).
Looking Toward the Future
Since its Early Access debut in January, Bladesong has carved out a niche for itself by blending high-fidelity physics—calculating centre of percussion, balance points, and harmonic nodes—with a “text adventure” narrative style.
“Chapter 2 is a massive step toward our vision of a living, breathing Eren Keep,” says the development team. “We’re moving from simple survival to active conspiracy.”
With five chapters planned in total and a full version release targeted for 2027, Bladesong remains one of the most unique indie prospects of 2026. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to return to the furnace, the Shattered Mask has provided it.
Bladesong – Chapter 2: The Shattered Mask is out now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
What kind of blade will you forge to bring down a king: a needle-thin rapier or a heavy executioner’s claymore?
