To safely reopen its waters to ocean travellers, Fiji has established Blue Lanes; select passages for yachts and pleasure crafts to indulge in the natural splendour of the islands while adhering to all protocols outlined in the Fijian Government’s COVID Safe Economic Recovery Framework. World-class marine and port facilities, a diverse provision of cuisine, retail and recreational activities and a sailing plethora of 333 islands have long placed Fiji as a yachting hub, and Fiji maintains safe access through Fiji’s only ports of entry: Port Denarau Marina in Western Viti Levu and Savusavu Bay in Vanua Levu.
“Blue Lanes was only launched last year and has seen over 100 yachts from July to December,” noted Tourism Fiji Acting CEO, Robert Thompson.
“Vessels that are cleared with cruising permits are issued a “Blue Lane –Approved” burgee flag to mark their compliance of Fiji’s COVID Safe Economy Recovery Framework requirements, and to confirm that they pose no threat to local communities.”
Superyacht owners can also choose to land by private aircraft at Nadi International Airport and join their yacht and crew at the port, following strict VIP arrival testing and transfers. All onboard crew are tested via the Blue Lanes 14-day quarantine and port tests.
To apply for Blue Lanes, yacht owners and crew must:
1. Engage a Fiji Yacht Agent
2. Undertake an RT-PCR test
3. Submit completed entry application
4. Download and activate the careFIJI App
5. Activate AIS for navigation
