Clock In If You Dare: Co-Op Detective Horror Game ‘Shift at Midnight’ Launches Today on PC, Xbox, and Game Pass

If you thought working the late shift at a gas station was stressful before, developer Bun Muen and publisher Kwalee are about to take that workplace anxiety to a whole new terrifying level. The highly anticipated online co-op detective horror game Shift at Midnight has officially launched today, bringing a fresh blend of job simulation, interrogation mechanics, and full-blown horror to players worldwide.

Available now on PC (via Steam, itch.io, and the Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S, the game is also accessible day-one for Xbox Game Pass subscribers across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Best of all? Players looking to buy outright can clock in for an accessible entry price of $9.99 / £9.99 / €9.99.

    What Is Shift at Midnight?

Created by Australian solo developer Bun Muen, Shift at Midnight drops up to three players into a remote 1990s gas station. On paper, your responsibilities sound simple enough: keep the shelves stocked, handle deliveries, sweep the floors, serve incoming customers, and make quota before sunrise.

However, there’s a deadly catch—not every customer walking through the door is human.

    Key Gameplay Features

    • Investigate and Interrogate: To keep the store safe, you’ll need to step into the shoes of a detective. Ask each customer up to five questions, scrutinise their IDs, cross-reference their credentials using the back-office computer terminal, and watch for suspicious behaviour.
    • Identify the Doppelgangers: Some shoppers are bloodthirsty impostors in disguise. If you spot one, you’ll need to execute them on the spot—and don’t forget to clean up the mess before the next customer arrives!
    • Survive the Fallout: If a doppelganger slips past your security check and escapes into the night, the game shifts from a quiet investigation to pure survival horror. You and your crew will have to board up the station, set traps, and hide as grotesque monsters return to hunt you down.
    • Randomly Generated Shifts: No two night shifts play out the same way, keeping replayability high and teams on constant edge.
    • Immersive Proximity Voice Chat: Communication is crucial, and the game’s built-in proximity chat makes every whisper, plan, and panic-filled scream feel terrifyingly real.

    Launch Bundles and Availability

To mark the occasion, Shift at Midnight has also teamed up with fan-favourite horror titles—including Phasmophobia, Escape the Backrooms, and YAPYAP—for special Steam bundles offering discounted rates for cooperative horror fans.

Whether you’re jumping in with friends via cross-platform co-op or testing your luck on Xbox Cloud Gaming, Shift at Midnight is ready to deliver one of the most suspenseful multiplayer experiences of the summer.

Clock in today on PC, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox Game Pass—just make sure to check those IDs carefully!

Riot Shield Ready: Sergeant Coyle Returns in The Outlast Trials’ Brutal “Project Boneyard” Update

A prison riot in progress? Not under his watch.

Murkoff Corporation is throwing its captive Reagents right back into the meat grinder. Project Boneyard, the latest massive content update for The Outlast Trials, is officially dropping on July 14.

Sergeant Leland Coyle—Sinyala Facility’s favourite law-enforcing psychopath—is back. And this time, he’s trading the courthouse steps for the oppressive, blood-soaked confines of a prison farm. He’s here to bring order, severe punishment, and absolute profit back to the facility’s unstable population.

If you thought surviving Murkoff’s therapy sessions was already a nightmare, things are about to get a whole lot worse.

What’s Waiting for You in the Boneyard?

Murkoff isn’t just opening the gates to a new map; they are completely overhauling the therapy experience. Here is a breakdown of what you and your squad will face this July:

A Deadly New Environment & Trial

Step onto the Prison Farm, a gruelling new Trial environment designed to break your spirit and your bones. You’ll need to navigate tight corners, rusted cells, and open execution grounds while Coyle patrols the premises with his signature electric baton.

    Meet “The Biter”

As if Sergeant Coyle wasn’t enough, a terrifying new Ex-Pop enemy known as “The Biter” will be stalking the shadows of the Prison Farm. Details on its exact mechanics are still classified, but its name alone should tell you to keep your distance.

    Fresh Challenges & Major Overhauls

    • Two New MK-Challenges: Brand-new, bite-sized gauntlets designed to test your spatial awareness and nerve under extreme pressure.
    • Escalation & Invasion Updates: Major reworks are coming to these core modes to keep veteran Reagents on their toes and introduce unpredictable new variables to your runs.
    • New Customisation Features: Earn new cosmetics to deck out your sleep room and your Reagent, because you might as well look good while fighting for your life.

Murkoff Memo: Therapy is mandatory. Survival is optional. Pack your rigs, coordinate your perks, and prepare to comply.

The Outlast Trials: Project Boneyard launches July 14 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Will you survive the warden’s wrath, or become just another body buried in the boneyard?
