Pepperbox Studios has officially announced that Dice of Kalma, their hit roguelike deckbuilder, has crossed a massive milestone: over 500,000 players worldwide have descended into the depths to challenge Kalma, the grim guardian of the Underworld, in his high-stakes game of dice poker.

To celebrate half a million souls braving the abyss, the studio is dropping its highly anticipated Version 1.5 “Funeral Fashion” update, alongside a gorgeous new cinematic trailer. If you thought escaping death was a drab affair, think again—it’s time to spruce up your underworld wardrobe.

What’s New in the “Funeral Fashion” Update?

This major update injects a healthy dose of style, strategy, and quality-of-life improvements into the addictive, luck-pushing roguelike. Here is what players can expect when they log in:

1. The Wardrobe & Unlockable Cosmetics

You can now earn stylish cosmetic rewards by completing in-game achievements. A brand-new Wardrobe Menu has been added to the main menu, allowing you to personalise your journey.

• Fresh Dreads & Dice: Unlock and equip a wide range of stylish Hats, Capes, and custom Dice skins.
• Kalma’s Judgment: Want some feedback on your look? When you equip a new hat or cape, Kalma himself will comment on your fashion choices when you start a run.
• Royal Upgrades: For players looking to support the developers, Supporter Packs have been expanded to include exclusive Royal Capes alongside the existing crowns.

2. Six Brand-New Skulls

Mechanics are getting a serious shake-up with six new strategic skulls to add to your deck, unlocking powerful new synergies and game-breaking combos:

• Half Skull: Grants extra bones, a multiplier, and a reroll if the mathematical difference between your first two dice equals the difference between the last two.
• Chieftain Skull: Rewards you if at least two of the three middle dice match.
• Shaman Skull: Activates when the sum of your odd dice outweighs the sum of your even dice.
• Hacker Skull: Gives massive bonuses if the total sum of your dice is a prime number (divisible only by itself).
• Nailed Skull & Queen Skull: Introduce high-tier tactical rewards based on matching specific positions and managing unique dice numbers relative to your spent rerolls.

3. Cloud Saves Are Safely Secured

No more fearing lost progress. The 1.5 update introduces official Cloud Saves (powered by Unity). While cross-platform saves between PC and mobile aren’t supported, your progress will seamlessly sync across Windows, Mac, and Linux.
