Ever wanted to learn mahjong but found the rules intimidating? Solo developer iruca3 has you covered. Furmah — the completely free browser-based mahjong game — just dropped its brand-new Story Mode beta on September 29, 2026, and it’s designed to turn total beginners into confident players through the power of storytelling.
What Is Furmah?
Furmah isn’t just another mahjong game — it’s an interactive learning experience that runs entirely in your web browser. No downloads, no installs, no subscriptions. You can play on PC, smartphone, or tablet the moment you visit the site.
Story Mode: Learn Through Play
The big news is the new Story Mode beta — a gentle, guided way to master mahjong from scratch. Here’s how it works:
- Start simple — You begin with a small set of tiles and just one winning hand, building confidence before introducing more rules.
- Learn as you go — Friendly character dialogue explains concepts, followed by hands-on practice and quick quizzes to reinforce what you’ve picked up.
- Progress naturally — Each lesson adds new tiles, combinations, and strategies, so you’re ready for full matches by the end.
- Zero pressure — Play at your own pace, take breaks whenever you like, and revisit earlier lessons anytime.
