Superpedestrian celebrates two years of shared e-scooters

Superpedestrian, the pioneering transportation robotics company and provider of the industry-leading LINK e-scooter, has been named one of the top 10 most innovative companies in transportation by Fast Company. The accolade comes as Superpedestrian celebrates two years operating shared mobility fleets, and 18 months since launching shared mobility in Europe.

Superpedestrian is the only micro-mobility company to be named on the Fast Company list. Other names include electric car maker Polestar and US air carrier JetBlue. Fast Company said: “Meeting growing demand for flexible mobility options, scooter maker Superpedestrian is deploying its e-scooters, with new safety features, in cities worldwide, including traditionally underserved parts of Los Angeles.”

Superpedestrian now operates in nearly 60 cities across 10 countries, with 60% of its global markets located in Europe. Its smallest fleet of 25 e-scooters resides in the small Italian town of Isola Delle Femmine in Sicily, with its largest located in Los Angeles, US, with 5,000 scooters. Overall, the average distance of a Superpedestrian e-scooter ride is 1.5 miles, while the average time of a trip is 12 minutes. The company’s advanced self-diagnostic and self-healing machine learning platform, Vehicle Intelligence, has conducted some 15 trillion vehicle health checks in that time.

During two years of Superpedestrian’s global operations, users have covered more than 11 million miles and 2 million hours of riding. This translates to more than 3 million miles of avoided car journeys, helping to achieve the company’s mission of serving cities with the safest, greenest, most accessible mobility in the world while reducing emissions. Over the same timeframe, its own team has expanded significantly, from around 30 in March 2020 to more than 500 today.

“Robust mechanical design, advanced self-diagnostic and self-protection technologies, and groundbreaking pedestrian protection features make our proprietary shared e-scooter ideally suited to towns and cities everywhere, and we’re delighted to see our thoughtful approach recognised by Fast Company, “ said Superpedestrian’s Haya Verwoord Douidri, Vice President (Global Market expansion, policy and strategy).

“The exceptional growth we have earned over the past two years is proof that cities, riders and pedestrians – and Fast Company – value our low-carbon, high-tech transport solutions, our 100% city compliance record, and our culture of seeking continuous improvement everywhere we go.”
