Check In, If You Dare: Portuguese Developer Camel 101 Unveils Retro Horror ‘Dead Stop – No Vacancy’ Coming to Steam This August

Indie horror fans, mark your calendars! Portuguese development studio Camel 101 has officially announced its latest project: Dead Stop – No Vacancy, set to launch on PC via Steam on August 13, 2026.

If you’re a fan of atmospheric storytelling, vintage VHS vibes, and classic 1980s slasher lore, this short, standalone first-person horror experience is designed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

What is Dead Stop – No Vacancy?

Dead Stop – No Vacancy serves as the chilling debut entry in Dead Stop, a brand-new anthology series of short, bite-sized horror titles inspired by classic horror tropes and eerie, forgotten locations.

In this first episode, players step into the worn boots of Nancy, a sharp, hard-nosed investigative reporter tracking down an arson story in the small town of Crestfall. Things take a dark turn when Nancy loses GPS signal on a desolate back road and is forced to stop for the night at the isolated Paradise Motel.

What seems like a simple overnight stay quickly unravels into a terrifying mystery. With no road signs, no signal, and eerie occurrences hidden behind every door, Nancy soon discovers that getting a room at the Paradise Motel might be the worst mistake of her life.

    Key Game Features:

    • Retro 80s Slasher Aesthetic: Immersive visual style paying homage to classic VHS horror and retro survival games.
    • Environmental Storytelling & Puzzles: Explore creepy rooms, uncover hidden secrets, and solve mechanical contraptions tied directly to the motel’s dark history.
    • Pure Psychological Tension: Experience an atmospheric, exploration-driven horror setup that trades cheap jump scares for slow-burning dread and rich sound design.
    • Focused & Lean Gameplay: A tight, complete narrative experience—no filler, no unnecessary padding.

    Mark Your Calendars

Whether you’re a veteran of retro survival horror or just looking for a compact, pulse-pounding thriller to beat in an evening, Dead Stop – No Vacancy promises a delightfully grim getaway.

  • When Perspective Defines Reality: Veteran Developers Unveil Neon-Noir Mystery ‘The Eventide’

When Perspective Defines Reality: Veteran Developers Unveil Neon-Noir Mystery ‘The Eventide’

If you’re a fan of rich, narrative-driven mysteries, atmospheric worlds, and deep detective mechanics, put this on your radar immediately. Studio Reset, a newly formed independent game development studio created by industry veterans Kaelin Lavallee, Kris Schoneberg, and Francis Lacuna, has officially revealed its debut title: The Eventide.

Currently in early development for PC via Steam, The Eventide is a single-player, supernatural mystery adventure set in a stylised, neon-noir Canadian cityscape. Drawing on the team’s impressive background—with experience spanning acclaimed studios like BioWare, Hinterland, Inflexion Games, and Timbre Games—Studio Reset is setting out to reinvent how we approach virtual detective work.

    Welcome to The Eventide Agency

In The Eventide, players take on the role of the unseen hand orchestrating operations at The Eventide Agency—a covert organisation dedicated to monitoring, studying, and intervening in otherworldly incidents that the public never notices.

Adjacent planes of existence are bleeding into the city. From rain-slicked alleys and dusty archives to eerie, defunct radio stations and haunted apartment blocks, a growing backlog of unexplained cases needs solving. But this isn’t your average “find the glowing object” detective game. In The Eventide, the most critical choice you make happens before you even set foot at the crime scene.

    The Twist: “Parallax Deduction”

What makes The Eventide stand out in the crowded mystery genre is its core mechanic: Parallax Deduction.

Every investigation begins with a crucial choice: Which two agents should be sent to the scene?

Every agent in your evolving roster sees the world differently—and that perspective alters reality. The clues you gather, the conversations you trigger, and the details you notice depend entirely on who you assign:

    • Evelyn “Eve” Atwood (The Cryptozoologist): Methodical and grounded, Eve analyses scenes through science, biology, and physical evidence.
    • Sam “Brass” Hingle (The Former Detective): Pragmatic and sharp, Brass specialises in reading people, deciphering motives, and catching human contradictions.
    • Kira (The [REDACTED]): Quiet and sensitive, Kira can perceive latent psychic and emotional energies lingering in a room.

Other agents bring arcane knowledge, advanced technical gear, or the ability to peer directly into ethereal planes. Because no two agents see a crime scene through the same lens, solving a case isn’t about trial-and-error guesswork—it’s about matching perspectives to synthesise the full picture.

“We see the world as we need to; not as it is,” explains Kaelin Lavallee, Producer and Creative Director at Studio Reset. “With The Eventide, we wanted to build a mystery game where solving a case is not just about finding clues. It is about experiencing the cases through the characters’ perspective to understand what those clues mean.”

Paperwork, Redacted Truths, and Branching Logic

Once your field agents collect their evidence, it’s up to you to piece the fragments together back at the office. Using a word-based, mad-lib-style deduction system, you’ll fill in the missing gaps of redacted case reports.

Be careful, though: evidence can often be interpreted in more than one way. Different conclusions can lead to different truths, opening up new cases, locations, and overarching conspiracy threads across a non-linear campaign structure.

Built on Experience and Unreal Engine 5

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, The Eventide combines fixed-camera 3D exploration with mature narrative themes including loss, trauma, and folklore. The game promises a unique blend of The X-Files paranormal investigation, The Case of the Golden Idol styled deduction puzzles, and a striking neon-noir aesthetic.

With a veteran development team behind the wheel, The Eventide is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing indie projects on the horizon.

    How to Stay Updated

The Eventide is currently in early development for PC. You can support Studio Reset by heading over to Steam today to wishlist the game and check out the debut announcement teaser trailer!

  • Heavy Cargo – The Truck Simulator Doubles Its World in Massive “HEAVY SOUTH” Expansion

Heavy Cargo – The Truck Simulator Doubles Its World in Massive “HEAVY SOUTH” Expansion

Trucking simulation fans have a major reason to hit the highway today. Developer TML-Studios and publisher Aerosoft have officially unveiled the “HEAVY SOUTH” expansion for Heavy Cargo – The Truck Simulator, delivering a massive update that effectively doubles the size of the playable game world.

In addition to expanding into breathtaking new territory, the game is receiving a comprehensive rework of its existing map alongside a highly requested community feature that fundamentally changes how drivers experience their journeys.

Doubling the Map: Welcome to the “HEAVY SOUTH”

The headline feature of the new expansion is the HEAVY SOUTH DLC, which dramatically expands the simulation’s geographic footprint. Players will now be able to transport oversized loads across vast, newly crafted southern regions featuring diverse terrain, challenging road networks, and tight urban passages designed to test even the most seasoned trucking veterans.

By doubling the total game world size, the expansion introduces longer haul routes, new industrial hub destinations, and varied scenic vistas—offering a much-needed breath of fresh air for virtual truckers looking for their next logistical challenge.

A Revamped Experience: Reworked Game World

It’s not just about adding new land; the developers have gone back to polish the foundation. Alongside the expansion, Heavy Cargo is receiving an extensive overhaul of its original game world.

    Key improvements include:

    • Enhanced Visual Fidelity: Updated environmental textures, improved lighting, and refined roadside vegetation create a more immersive driving environment.
    • Optimised Road Networks: Reworked intersections and lane layouts make manoeuvring massive, multi-ton cargo loads feel more realistic and satisfying.
    • Richer Traffic AI: Upgraded ambient traffic behaviours ensure that navigating heavy transport through busy highways and narrow city streets remains an engaging challenge.

Delivering on Fan Feedback: New Community-Requested Feature

TML-Studios and Aerosoft have kept a close ear to community feedback since the game’s initial release. Included in this update is a key quality-of-life feature directly requested by players: a reworked route planning and navigation tool (or enhanced free-roam camera features, depending on player setup), designed to give drivers far greater control over how they evaluate haulage routes before setting off with extreme loads.

This feature allows virtual transport specialists to pre-scout tricky turns, height clearances, and tight bridges, minimising costly navigational mistakes when pulling ultra-heavy trailers.

    Time to Load Up

Whether you’re a veteran of heavy-haul transport or a newcomer looking for a true-to-life logistics challenge, the HEAVY SOUTH expansion marks the biggest and most complete evolution of Heavy Cargo – The Truck Simulator to date.

The HEAVY SOUTH DLC and the free game-world rework update are available now on Steam.

  • Viral Sensations: Embers’ ‘Paper Shredder’ Shreds Records with 100K Steam Wishlists in Just 48 Hours

Viral Sensations: Embers’ ‘Paper Shredder’ Shreds Records with 100K Steam Wishlists in Just 48 Hours

When you think of the next big hit in gaming, you might imagine high-octane action, massive open worlds, or cutting-edge graphics. But independent game development studio Embers just proved that sometimes, the most satisfying concept is also the simplest: shredding paper.

Today, Embers officially announced that its upcoming incremental title, Paper Shredder, has surpassed an incredible 100,000 Steam wishlists in just 48 hours following its initial reveal.

Achieving six-figure wishlist numbers usually takes indie developers months—if not years—of tireless marketing, trailer drops, and community building. So, how did a game about feeding paper into a shredder achieve this milestone in just two days?

The Power of “Oddly Satisfying” Gameplay

Incremental games (often called “clicker” or “idle” games) thrive on simple, addicting reward loops. Paper Shredder takes that premise and pairs it with one of the internet’s favorite sensory pleasures: tactile, sound-rich destruction.

Players start with simple sheets of paper and gradually upgrade their equipment to shred bigger documents, unlock bizarre items, and automate their destruction empire. The combination of tactile feedback, satisfying audio design, and quirkiness tapped directly into the viral zeitgeist.

    A Social Media Firestorm

The milestone follows a massive surge of viral interest across TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Reddit. Clips of the game’s physics-based paper physics and ASMR-style audio quickly racked up millions of views, propelling the game into gaming community discussions overnight.

By the time the Steam page went live, a pre-built audience was ready and waiting to smash the “Add to Wishlist” button.

Why Wishlists Matter for Indie Studios

In the modern PC gaming landscape, Steam wishlists are the lifeblood of an indie release. High wishlist counts tell Valve’s recommendation algorithm that a game is in high demand, helping it feature prominently on Steam’s front page under sections like “Popular Upcoming” upon launch.

Crossing the 100,000 threshold within 48 hours instantly puts Embers in a prime position for a massive, high-visibility launch.

    What’s Next for Embers?

With the internet firmly hooked, Embers is riding the momentum. While a firm release date hasn’t been set yet, the studio has promised further updates, community playtests, and extra features based on the sudden wave of feedback.

One thing is certain: Paper Shredder is proof that creative indie ideas, paired with strong viral appeal, can still take the industry by storm almost overnight.
