  • Ukrainian Studio Twigames Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Gripping Narrative RPG Hollow Home

Ukrainian Studio Twigames Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Gripping Narrative RPG Hollow Home

Kyiv-based indie game developer Twigames has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for its highly anticipated narrative survival RPG, Hollow Home. With a funding goal of $15,000, the 20-day campaign runs through August 24th to support the final stretch of the game’s development and add extra polish ahead of its planned late 2026 launch.

Here is everything you need to know about this deeply moving indie title, the team behind it, and how you can support their vision.

    What is Hollow Home?

Hollow Home is an isometric, combat-free narrative survival RPG that puts players in the shoes of Maksym, a 14-year-old boy trying to survive the onset of war in his hometown. Inspired by real-life events during the 2022 invasion of Ukraine—specifically the siege of Mariupol—the game delivers an intimate, human look at how ordinary civilians navigate disaster.

Unlike traditional RPGs that centre around battle mechanics, Hollow Home focuses entirely on resource management, dialogue, moral choices, and relationships:

    • No Combat, High Stakes: Survival relies on learning practical skills like cooking, crafting, scavenging, and first aid from surviving neighbours.
    • A Dynamic, Evolving City: As the conflict escalates, the city shifts day by day. Districts become destroyed or blocked off, and characters you meet early on may not survive to see tomorrow.
    • Finite Time & Lasting Consequences: Players face limited actions each in-game day, forcing difficult choices on who to help, what resources to prioritise, and what trade-offs to make.
    • Multiple Endings: Every decision directly shapes Maksym’s morale and the ultimate fate of those around him.

    Real-Life Courage Behind the Game

The story of Hollow Home is deeply personal. Twigames’ team began working on the concept in 2022 after evacuating to a small village in the Carpathian Mountains during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Members of the studio have continued developing the project while living through the ongoing war in Kyiv.

“We started making Hollow Home in 2022, when our team was evacuated to a small village in the Carpathian Mountains. We’ve been building it ever since and are finally close to release,” said Valerii Minenko, founder of Twigames. “We want players to experience what survival looks like for ordinary people when a war arrives in their city.”

The title has already earned significant critical acclaim within the indie community, securing awards such as Best Conference Game at Games Gathering 2024, winner of the Nordic Game 2024 Pitch Battle, and Most Promising Game at Indie Cup Ukraine 2023.

    Why a Kickstarter Campaign Now?

Twigames has already secured a publishing deal with Berlin-based publisher Crunchy Leaf Games, putting the project’s main development on solid financial footing.

However, the team has returned to its original plan of launching a Kickstarter to fund additional polish, deeper narrative branches, expanded quests, and richer details during the final stretch of production.

    Campaign Overview:

    • Goal: $15,000
    • Duration: 20 Days (Ending August 24th)
    • Target Release: Late 2026 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X/S
    • Playable Demo: Currently available on Steam

    How to Support Hollow Home

If you want to back an award-winning indie studio telling a crucial story of resilience, you can support Hollow Home directly:

    Endless Replayability: Build Your Arsenal

True to its roguelite roots, no two runs in Steel Maiden are ever identical:

  • Blood, Trees, and Bad Memories: The Flayed Man Devs Announce a Free Demo for Upcoming Horror Visual Novel Thorner

Blood, Trees, and Bad Memories: The Flayed Man Devs Announce a Free Demo for Upcoming Horror Visual Novel Thorner

Get ready to lose yourself in the woods—and maybe your sanity.

UK-based indie studio Snoring Dog Games, the twisted minds behind the critically acclaimed point-and-click horror hit The Flayed Man, has just dropped some thrilling news. Their highly anticipated sophomore project, Thorner, is officially getting a playable Steam demo on July 30, 2026!

To celebrate the announcement, the developers have released an eerie new demo trailer, giving players a haunting first-hand look at the grotesque, nature-based horror that awaits them.

    What is Thorner?

In Thorner, you step into the muddy boots of Colin Snead, a haunted military veteran. Desperate to escape the ghosts of his past and the horrors of his service, Colin flees to the remote, dense Scottish wilderness.

But as indie horror fans know all too well, some things refuse to stay buried. In the deep woods, Colin quickly learns a terrifying truth: spilt blood is not easily forgiven. The land is alive. The land knows what you did. And the land will judge.

What to Expect From the Demo (and the Full Game)

Thorner is a narrative-driven horror visual novel that blends a stunningly eerie pixel-art aesthetic with disturbing psychological and environmental dread. Here is what makes it a must-play:

    • Tailored Endings: The game features three distinct endings, but you won’t get them through simple A-or-B dialogue boxes. The final outcome is dynamically tailored to your personality, tracking the psychological weight of Colin’s thoughts, words, and actions throughout the story.
    • Macabre & Grotesque Art: If you played The Flayed Man, you know Snoring Dog Games doesn’t shy away from the unsettling. Thorner’s distinct, nature-based horror art style is designed to stick with you long after the screen goes black.
    • Accessibility at Its Core: The developers have built-in thoughtful accessibility options, allowing players to adjust fonts, disable screen shaking/movement, and turn off time-based decision mechanics.
    • An Atmospheric Soundtrack: The demo and full game feature a deeply immersive, original soundtrack that perfectly captures the isolation of the Scottish highlands.

Watch the Demo Trailer and Prepare Your Wishlist!

The newly released demo trailer is a perfect slice of atmospheric dread, setting up the grim mystery of Colin’s journey.

If you love psychological thrillers, folk horror, and choice-heavy visual novels, mark your calendar for July 30, 2026. In the meantime, head over to Steam to watch the brand-new trailer, add Thorner to your wishlist, and prepare yourself to face the judgment of the wilderness.
