Anyone who has braved the supermarket during the pandemic will already know that consumers have not been afraid to spend their cash. Getting an online delivery has proved so hard that is it obvious that supermarket sales have not suffered during this period.
However, for the UK’s largest supermarket Tesco sales might have reached around £53bn but there is a downside to this and that is the additional costs that Tesco has incurred, this means that while revenue has been good, profits have dropped by around 20%.
The reason for this is simple, in order to keep the stores open and the deliveries running, Tesco has had to incur more costs, this is reflected in the fall in profits for the supermarket giant.
