The Legend Awakes: Manairons Arrives on PS5 and Steam!

Get ready to shrink down and spark some chaos. The wait is finally over for fans of indie 3D platformers and unique cultural tales. Manairons, the highly anticipated adventure from JanduSoft and 3Cat, is officially launching this Thursday, February 19, 2026, on Steam and PlayStation 5.

Inspired by the ancient fables of the Pyrenees, Manairons isn’t just another platformer—it’s a vibrant, magical, and slightly mischievous trip into Catalan folklore.

    What is a “Manairó”?

In local legends, Manairons are tiny, incredibly hardworking (and easily agitated) creatures that live inside a “Canut”—a small needle case. If you open it, they rush out demanding work. If you don’t give them a task, they might just tear everything apart.

In the game, you play as Nai, a Manairó who has been locked away for centuries. You awaken to find the peaceful village of Vilamont transformed into a smog-filled industrial nightmare by the greedy landowner Llorenç. He’s exploited your kind to run his factories, and it’s up to you to set things right.

    Key Gameplay Features

    • The Power of the Flute: Forget swords and guns. Nai uses a magical flute to play melodies that solve puzzles, control fellow Manairons, and even knock out enemies.
    • Miniature Adventure, Massive World: Explore the various businesses of Vilamont, from bakeries to workshops, each filled with vertical platforming challenges and hidden secrets.
    • Folklore Meets Steampunk: The art style beautifully blends the natural beauty of the Pyrenees with the “clunky” aesthetic of Llorenç’s industrial machines.
    • Epic Boss Battles: Face off against unique bosses in every zone to reclaim the village and free your stressed-out kin.

Note: While the game debuts on PS5 and Steam this week, JanduSoft has confirmed that Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions are currently in development and will follow shortly.

    Why You Should Play It

If you grew up loving 3D platformers like Ratchet & Clank or A Hat in Time, Manairons will feel right at home. It captures that “Golden Era” feel but injects it with a fresh, specific cultural identity. Between the orchestral soundtrack by Victormame and the sheer charm of the character designs, it’s a perfect pick for both completionists looking for secrets and families looking for a fun weekend adventure.

  • New demo for weapon-building metroidvania Clockwork Ambrosia

New demo for weapon-building metroidvania Clockwork Ambrosia

A new demo for Clockwork Ambrosia has officially landed on Steam, and if you’ve been craving a Metroidvania that trades the usual sword-slashing for high-octane steampunk gunplay, this is one you need to wishlist immediately.

Developed by Realmsoft and published by OI Games, this project has been 14 years in the making. With the full release scheduled for April 22, 2026, this latest demo serves as the ultimate “vertical slice” of what to expect from the island of Aspida.

    What is Clockwork Ambrosia?

Think of it as the lovechild of Super Metroid and Metal Slug, with a healthy dose of Borderlands-style customisation. You play as Iris, an airship engineer stranded on a mysterious island where the local population has been replaced by hostile robots and bio-mechanical monsters.

    The “Rule-Breaking” Weapon System

The standout feature here—and the focus of the new demo—is the weapon-building system. Unlike traditional Metroidvanias, where upgrades are linear (like moving from a standard beam to a plasma beam), Clockwork Ambrosia uses a modular system.

    • 150+ Modifications: You can mix and match parts to create “broken” combos.
    • Strategic Trade-offs: Some mods might fill the screen with bullets but reduce your mobility, or give you massive damage at the cost of fire rate.
    • Visual Flair: Your gear changes aren’t just stats; they are reflected on Iris’s character model in real-time.

What’s New in the Latest Demo?

If you played the early alpha versions in 2024 or 2025, the 2026 “Pre-Launch” demo feels like a completely different beast. The developers have focused heavily on atmosphere and polish:

    • Atmospheric Overhaul: The pixel art has been re-textured to add more “grime and depth,” specifically in the Mushroom Forest and the Sunken Kingdom.
    • Boss Reworks: The demo features two major boss fights that have been re-tuned with updated telegraphs and more aggressive attack patterns.
    • Snappy Crafting: A new preview of the crafting system is available, allowing you to unlock abilities at your own pace rather than following a rigid path.
    • New Soundtrack Bits: We get to hear more of the original score by Johnny Stixx, which perfectly captures that “adventurous but slightly eerie” steampunk vibe.

    Why You Should Play It

It’s rare to see a Metroidvania lean so heavily into 2D shooter mechanics without losing the “search action” soul. The movement is fluid, the gunplay feels weighty, and the mystery of the island’s missing inhabitants provides a compelling hook.

Developer Insight: Nathan Hiemenz (Realmsoft Founder) mentioned that they wanted to move away from the “additive” upgrades of Super Metroid. In Clockwork Ambrosia, choice matters more than just collecting everything you see.

    How to Play

The demo is currently available for Windows PC via Steam. It’s also been confirmed to be Steam Deck-friendly, making it a perfect pick for handheld gaming.

  • Rise to Power: The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire Hits Steam Early Access

Rise to Power: The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire Hits Steam Early Access

The gritty neon-soaked streets of the 1980s have a new kingpin in the making. Developer BEF Games and publisher Tripwire Presents have officially launched The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire (formerly known as The Boss Gangsters: Nightlife) into Steam Early Access.

This ambitious title attempts to bridge the gap between deep business management and high-stakes open-world action, offering players a seat at the head of a growing criminal table in the fictional, atmospheric Night City.

A Tale of Two Worlds: Management Meets Mayhem

What sets The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire apart from typical crime sims is its dual-layered gameplay. You aren’t just a thug on the corner; you are a CEO of the underworld. The game operates on two primary fronts:

    1. The Nightclub Front: You begin your journey managing a high-end nightclub. This isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a fully realised simulation. You must hire staff (from bartenders to bouncers), customise the decor, stock the bar, and keep the VIPs happy. A successful club provides the clean “front” and capital needed to fund your darker ambitions.
    2. The Criminal Underworld: Once you step out of the neon lights of your club, Night City becomes an open-world playground. You’ll engage in car theft, protect local businesses for “tribute,” and wage war against rival families to expand your territory.

Key Features of the Early Access Launch

BEF Games has spent over three years developing the foundation of this empire. The Early Access version currently includes:

    • Seamless Transitions: One of the game’s most impressive technical feats is the ability to switch from micro-managing your club to exploring the open world without any loading screens.
    • The Family System: You are only as strong as the people behind you. Players can recruit, train, and equip a loyal crew to defend their interests or lead “hostile takeovers” of rival rackets.
    • A Web of Corruption: Success requires more than just firepower. You’ll need to bribe local police and influence city officials, including the mayor, to ensure the law looks the other way while your empire grows.
    • Authentic 80s Vibe: The game features an original soundtrack of 16 custom tracks designed to immerse players in the synth-heavy, dangerous atmosphere of the 1980s.

    What’s Next on the Roadmap?

While the current version represents roughly 30-40% of the developer’s ultimate vision, the roadmap for the next year is packed. BEF Games has committed to several major expansions during the Early Access period, including:

    Feature CategoryPlanned Updates
New BusinessesRun drug manufacturing plants, weapon depots, or even legitimate hotels.
Expanded MapMore districts, interactable locations, and usable sea areas with boat mechanics.
MultiplayerA planned co-op mode to build empires with friends before the 1.0 release.
RefinementsOverhauls to vehicle physics, AI behavior, and deeper “protection money” mechanics.

    System Requirements

For those looking to start their climb to the top, the game is relatively accessible:

    • Minimum: Intel i5/AMD Ryzen 5, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050.
    • Recommended: Intel i7/AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, RTX 2060.

  • All Aboard! The Forest Escape: Last Train Playtest is LIVE

All Aboard! The Forest Escape: Last Train Playtest is LIVE

The survival horror genre is heading to the tracks. Frag Lab LLC has officially opened the gates to its mysterious, nightmare-fueled woods with the Forest Escape: Last Train Public Playtest, launched on February 13, 2026.

Blending the tension of Escape the Backrooms with the locomotive-management of Choo-Choo Charles, this indie title is quickly becoming a “must-watch” for co-op fans.

What is Forest Escape: Last Train?

In Forest Escape: Last Train, you and up to three friends play as prison escapees trapped in a surreal, misty forest. However, this isn’t a natural landscape—it is a physical manifestation of a “crazy Warden’s” fractured mind.

Your only hope for survival is a rickety locomotive. You must maintain it, fuel it, and drive it through a series of increasingly twisted environments while being hunted by “twig creatures” and other surreal horrors.

    Core Gameplay Pillars:

    • The Locomotive Sanctuary: Your train is your mobile base. You must gather resources like coal for fuel and stone for defense. Upgrading the train is vital to surviving the deeper, more dangerous parts of the forest.
    • Surreal Puzzle Solving: The Warden’s madness translates into “eerie puzzles.” Progressing down the tracks often requires solving riddles that defy standard logic.
    • Gather & Survive: Stepping off the train is a calculated risk. Players must mine materials and trade for weapons while keeping an eye on the clock—the longer you stay outside, the higher the danger.

    Playtest Details: How to Join

The playtest is currently live on Steam and serves as a major stress test before the planned Q2 2026 release.

    Early Impressions: “Friendslop” and Fear

The developers at Frag Lab use the term “Friendslop” to describe the game’s unique vibe—a mix of high-intensity horror and the chaotic, often hilarious “slop” that happens when friends try to coordinate under pressure.

Early feedback highlights the “abandoned theme park” level and the unsettling design of the Warden’s minions. While the game is an indie production, the atmosphere and narrative depth (exploring a broken mind) provide a fresh take on the “escape” subgenre of horror.

“It’s like Escape the Backrooms meets peak horror on a train. We aren’t trying to be a AAA title; we’re focused on the fun of co-op chaos.” — Frag Lab Dev Team

  • Set a Course for Home: Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown Hits Nintendo Switch 2

Set a Course for Home: Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown Hits Nintendo Switch 2

The Delta Quadrant has never looked this good. With the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, fans of the final frontier have been waiting for that one title to truly showcase what the new hardware can do for strategy and storytelling. Enter Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown.

The latest gameplay trailer just dropped, and it’s more than just a nostalgia trip—it’s a deep, survival-strategy experience that puts the fate of the U.S.S. Voyager squarely in your hands.

A New Frontier in Survival Strategy

Developed by GameXcite and published by Daedalic Entertainment, Across the Unknown isn’t your typical action-heavy space shooter. It is a story-driven survival game with roguelite elements that emphasises the desperate, isolated nature of Voyager’s journey.

As Captain, you aren’t just following a script. You are managing a finite set of resources, a weary crew, and a ship that starts the game in literal pieces.

    • Rebuild the Legend: The trailer highlights a “side-view” management mode (think Fallout Shelter but with 24th-century tech). You’ll need to restore life support, research new facilities, and decide which ship systems to prioritise.
    • The “What If?” Factor: This is the game’s biggest hook. Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Janeway had used Borg tech earlier? Or if a key crew member hadn’t survived a specific mission? The game allows you to explore these alternate timelines, with your choices permanently altering the narrative.

    Tactical Combat & Exploration

The gameplay footage reveals a real-time with pause combat system. It’s tactical and cerebral; you aren’t “flying” the ship so much as you are commanding it. You’ll assign crew members to battle stations, target specific enemy subsystems, and scramble damage control teams to hull breaches in the heat of battle.

Outside of combat, you’ll navigate 12 vast sectors of the Delta Quadrant. Each run features procedurally generated systems, meaning no two journeys home will feel exactly the same.

Why It Shines on Nintendo Switch 2

While the game is coming to PC and other consoles, the Switch 2 version is generating massive buzz. The trailer showcases enhanced lighting and textures that take full advantage of the new handheld’s power, maintaining a crisp frame rate even during chaotic ship-to-ship engagements.

“The additional power of the Switch 2 allows us to bring the full, uncompromised Delta Quadrant experience to a portable device for the first time.” — Daniel Bernard, Game Director

    The Final Verdict (So Far)

If the trailer is any indication, Across the Unknown is the Voyager game we’ve been waiting twenty years for. It captures the tension of being 70,000 light-years from home while giving players the agency to lead the crew their own way.

Whether you’re a diplomat, a scientist, or a warrior, the Delta Quadrant is waiting.

  • Lords of the Fallen II New Developer Video

Lords of the Fallen II New Developer Video

In a new 42-minute developer deep-dive titled “Lifting the Veil,” CI Games and Hexworks have finally pulled back the curtain on Lords of the Fallen II. This latest look at the alpha build showcases a sequel that isn’t just iterating—it’s evolving into a faster, weightier, and significantly bloodier beast.

Targeting a 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game aims to rectify the “floaty” criticisms of its predecessor while doubling down on the dual-realm mechanics that define the series.

    The “Bolder, Braver, Bloodier” Vision

Game Director James Lowe describes the sequel as a “decadent dance with death.” The focus this time around is on “planted” combat. Unlike the 2023 reboot, where characters sometimes felt like they were sliding across the terrain, the sequel emphasises weight and friction, ensuring every swing of a mace or thrust of a spear feels earned.

    Key Combat Evolutions:

    • The Scythe Weapon Class: A standout reveal, the Scythe is designed for “crowd dominance,” allowing players to chain attacks like water to manage large groups of enemies.
    • Seamless Hybrid Gameplay: You can now swap between melee, ranged, and spellcasting instantly. The clunky gear-grinding of the past is gone; casting a spell mid-combo is now second nature.
    • Dismemberment & Executions: A new graphic execution system isn’t just for show—it serves as a rhythmic “moment of glory” that rewards perfect parries and aggressive play.
    • The Umbral Lamp: The lamp now has its own dedicated button, making its integration into the core combat loop much tighter than the puzzle-heavy implementation of the first game.

    Build Diversity: Rivalling the Giants

In a bold move, Lowe compared the game’s philosophy to industry titans like Elden Ring. While he praised FromSoftware’s “commitment to a build,” he noted that Lords of the Fallen II encourages more on-the-fly experimentation.

“I have a few more drives to experiment… I want to try dual-wielding. How does that feel? I feel confident enough as a player to go, ‘I’m going to mess around with this for a few hours.’” — James Lowe, Game Director

The sequel achieves this through lighter stat requirements and a more accessible respec system, allowing players to pivot their playstyle without the “arduous process” found in other Soulslikes.

    New Threats and Veteran Challenges

The video showcased several nightmare-inducing bosses, including:

    • The Heartroot Warden: A metal-encased skeleton wielding a massive chain-wrapped greatsword.
    • Koydreth: A winged, teleporting knight striking from rune-etched mirrors.
    • Lingao the Souring Storm: A colossal dragon harnessing wind and lightning.

For those who found the original game too easy (or too hard), the sequel introduces Veteran Mode at launch. This mode updates enemy AI, reduces attack distances, and adds global cooldowns to enemies to ensure they stay aggressive and pressure the player constantly.

    Technical Specs & Release

    • Engine: Unreal Engine 5
    • Release Window: 2026
    • Platforms: PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
    • Co-op: Features full “shared-progression” co-op, meaning you and a friend can experience the entire campaign together without the “summoning” hurdles of traditional Soulslikes.

  • The Landlord’s Gambit: Meet RENTPOLY, the Roguelike Board Game Redefining “Property Management”

The Landlord’s Gambit: Meet RENTPOLY, the Roguelike Board Game Redefining “Property Management”

If you’ve ever played Monopoly and thought, “This is great, but I wish I could trigger a 5x multiplier on my Boardwalk hotel by drinking a soda and using a power tool,” then Sunpeak Games has a very specific, very addictive gift for you.

Enter RENTPOLY, the newly announced indie title currently in development for a 2026 release. Coming off the success of their action-roguelike Spell Disk, the California-based team at Sunpeak Games is pivoting from wizardry to real estate—but keeping the “broken” synergies that make roguelikes so satisfying.

    The Pitch: Balatro Meets Monopoly

The developer describes RENTPOLY as a roguelike city-builder board game. While the board might look familiar, the gameplay is anything but traditional. Instead of just hoping for a lucky roll, you are building a “money-printing machine” through layers of greedy synergies.

As a renter-turned-dev, the creator wanted to explore the “other side” of the landlord-tenant relationship, fueled by a self-admitted Balatro addiction. The result? A game where you don’t just collect rent; you optimise it to absurd, billionaire-tier heights.

    Key Game Features

Sunpeak Games isn’t holding back on the variety. The game is set to launch with a massive amount of “build” potential:

    • 130+ Properties: Diverse buildings to attract tenants and generate revenue.
    • 200+ Tools: These are your “relics” or “jokers”—items that create powerful, game-breaking synergies.
    • 30+ Foods & 10+ Drinks: Consumables that manipulate luck or permanently boost property values.
    • 10+ Playable Characters: Each likely bringing a unique spin to the market.
    • 5+ Unique Maps: Different cityscapes to conquer.

    Why You Should Care

The “roguelike-ification” of classic genres is at an all-time high, but RENTPOLY stands out by tackling the board game format.

“Every decision matters. Every build, purchase, demolition, and dice roll can completely reshape your run.”Sunpeak Games

Unlike the original Monopoly, which is often criticised for being decided by luck in the first twenty minutes, RENTPOLY emphasises player agency. You aren’t just at the mercy of the dice; you’re using tools and “drinks” to bend those dice to your will.

How to Play It Right Now

While the full release is slated for 2026, you don’t have to wait two years to see if you have what it takes to be a digital tycoon.

As part of the recent Steam Board Game Fest, Sunpeak Games has opened up a public playtest. You can head over to the RentPoly Steam Page and request access to start building your empire today.

  • Welcome to the Park (Where You’re Probably on the Menu)

Welcome to the Park (Where You’re Probably on the Menu)

If you’ve ever played a park management sim and thought, “This is great, but it needs more dragons and a much higher chance of ecosystem collapse,” then Captain Contraption’s Safari Park is the game you’ve been waiting for.

Developed by the BAFTA-nominated team at Pill Bug Interactive (the minds behind Making it Home), this isn’t your standard “build a fence and sell popcorn” tycoon. It’s a nostalgic, physics-driven management sim mixed with modern roguelite elements—and the gates to the Closed Beta are finally swinging open.

What is Captain Contraption’s Safari Park?

In a post-extinction world, you play as a well-meaning robot who has discovered a digital “asset store” and decided to bring life back to Earth by cloning everything it finds.

The catch? There are no fences.

You aren’t just managing a park; you’re managing a fully simulated ecosystem. Your creatures—ranging from lions and zebras to dragons and sentient road signs—live, hunt, breed, and die according to their own AI. Your job is to design clever paths to guide guests through the chaos without letting the entire food chain implode… or letting the guests become lunch.

    Why the Roguelite Twist?

Tycoon games can often feel punishing if things go wrong 20 hours into a save. In Safari Park, the roguelite structure turns disaster into a feature.

    • Run-Based Management: Each run is time-limited.
    • Experimentation: Total ecosystem collapse is entertaining rather than devastating.
    • Progression: Unlock new “toys,” species, and tech to use in your next attempt.

    Join the Closed Beta

The team at Pill Bug Interactive is looking for brave park managers to help test the core systems, difficulty pacing, and UI readability.

What to Expect in the Beta

The developers are specifically looking for feedback on a few key areas:

    1. System Readability: Can you tell why your dragons are currently eating your cows?
    2. Pacing: Does the run-based structure keep you coming back for “just one more go”?
    3. The “Chaos” Factor: Is the simulated ecosystem manageable, or does it feel like overwhelming noise?

  • Suda51’s “Ultra-Violent” Fever Dream: ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN Is Out Now

Suda51’s “Ultra-Violent” Fever Dream: ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN Is Out Now

Buckle up, space travellers. Grasshopper Manufacture has finally unleashed their latest brand-new IP, and it’s exactly as unhinged as you’d expect from the mind of Goichi “Suda51” Suda. ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is officially out today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

If you’ve been waiting for a game that blends the stylish gore of No More Heroes with a Rick-and-Morty-esque trip through a shattered multiverse, your ship has come in.

The Story: Love, Death, and Space-Time Police

You step into the boots of Romeo Stargazer, a deputy sheriff who has a very bad day involving a “White Devil” monster and a sudden case of being dead.

Thanks to some questionable “DeadGear” hyper-technology provided by his mad-scientist grandfather, Romeo is revived as a “DeadMan”—a being caught in a perpetual time paradox between life and death. Naturally, the FBI’s Space-Time Police immediately recruits him to hunt down interdimensional fugitives.

While you’re busy painting the cosmos red, Romeo is also searching for his missing girlfriend, Juliet. But in a Suda51 game, “finding your girlfriend” usually involves fighting 16 different versions of her across various dimensions.

    Gameplay: Blood, “Bastards,” and… Curry?

The game is described by the developers as “Ultra-Violent Science Fiction,” and they aren’t kidding. Here is what you can expect from the gameplay loop:

    • Hack, Slash, and Shoot: Romeo switches seamlessly between laser swords and guns to tear through waves of enemies known as “Bastards.”
    • Bloody Summer: By absorbing the blood of your fallen foes, you can unleash a screen-clearing special attack that turns the game into a kaleidoscopic explosion of gore.
    • The Ship Hub: Between missions, you hang out on your FBI spaceship. In a classic Grasshopper twist, this hub is rendered in 16-bit pixel art. You can chat with a talking cat, cook health-restoring curries, or tend to a garden where you grow zombies that assist you in battle.
    • The Pac-Man Upgrade Path: To upgrade Romeo’s stats, you don’t just click a menu; you navigate a large, Pac-Man-inspired maze using experience points to unlock new paths.

    Initial Critical Reception

The reviews are landing, and like most of Suda51’s work, ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is proving to be a “love it or hate it” masterpiece of “punk” game design.

    PublicationScoreTakeaway
    8Bit/Digi10 / 10“Balls to the wall outrageous.”
Game Informer8.25 / 10“A bizarre, violent, and unexpectedly thoughtful style.”
    The Guardian2 / 5“Sprawl feels disappointingly directionless… like a child mashing toys.”
OpenCritic72 AvgStrong recommendation for die-hard Grasshopper fans.

“ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is our first original title in quite some time… I really wanted to create a character who could be loved by game fans the world over.” — Goichi Suda (Suda51)

    Should You Play It?

If you’re looking for a polished, triple-A cinematic experience with a “normal” story, look elsewhere. But if you want a game that feels like a playable fever dream, features a soundtrack by Japanese rap legends Scha Dara Parr, and lets you grow a zombie sniper in a garden—this is your Game of the Year.

ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is available now. Go get weird.

  • Command the Stars: Astro Protocol Launches Today on Steam!

Command the Stars: Astro Protocol Launches Today on Steam!

The wait is over for fans of deep strategy and tactical space combat. Null Vector Studios has officially released Astro Protocol on Steam!

If you love the depth of a 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) strategy game but don’t always have six hours to spare for a single session, this is the game you’ve been waiting for. Astro Protocol distils the grand strategy experience into intense, one-hour matches without sacrificing the complexity that makes the genre great.

    What is Astro Protocol?

Astro Protocol is a turn-based space strategy game set in a simulated star system. You take control of one of six unique factions, each vying for control of the “framework.” Whether you prefer the relentless expansion of a colonial power or the swarm tactics of a hive mind, the game challenges you to adapt your strategy to a galaxy that changes every time you play.

    Key Features at Launch:

    • Bitesize Grand Strategy: Matches are designed to be completed in about 60–120 minutes.
    • Procedural Replayability: Every run features randomised maps, anomalies, and procedurally generated tech trees. You can’t rely on a “meta” build order here; you have to react to the technologies available to you.
    • Tactical Hex Combat: Battles take place on a one-unit-per-tile grid. Positioning, flanking, and managing your fleet’s specific ship classes (from agile Scouts to massive Battleships) are the keys to victory.
    • Intricate Production Chains: Every tile matters. You’ll build space stations to harvest resources from asteroids and gas giants, connecting them via orbital networks to fuel your empire.
    • Smart AI: Developed in collaboration with renowned strategy modder Xilmi, the AI doesn’t just sit back—it plays to win, forcing you to earn every victory point.

    A Galaxy of Content

The full release is packed with content to keep you coming back for “just one more turn”:

    • 6 Playable Factions with distinct mechanics.
    • 24 Ship Types to master and upgrade.
    • 100+ Anomalies to discover, each offering unique rewards or “forbidden” tech.
    • 9 Different Victory Conditions, ensuring that combat isn’t the only path to dominance.

    Available Now

Astro Protocol is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. To celebrate the launch, Null Vector Studios is offering a limited-time discount on Steam.

“We wanted to create a strategy game that respects your time but still offers those ‘high-stakes’ decisions that make 4X games so addictive,” says the development team at Null Vector.

  • Indie Horror The Oily Depths rises from the Deep and is out today

Indie Horror The Oily Depths rises from the Deep and is out today

The ocean has always been a canvas for our deepest anxieties—unfathomable pressure, absolute darkness, and the feeling of being trapped in a tin can while something massive stirs outside. Today, solo developer Ryan R. Burns (an industry veteran with credits on World of Warcraft: Legion and Assassin’s Creed Mirage) taps directly into those fears with the launch of The Oily Depths.

If you’ve been looking for a psychological horror experience that values atmosphere and mechanical tension over cheap jump scares, your quota has arrived.

    Obey or Drown: The Premise

In The Oily Depths, you aren’t a hero; you’re an employee. Locked inside a claustrophobic, low-fi submarine, your task is simple yet soul-crushing: navigate the lightless seafloor to locate and drill for oil.

A mysterious voice crackles over the radio, delivering orders with a chilling indifference. The stakes are binary:

    • Meet your quota: You get to breathe for another hour.
    • Fail your quota: Your corporate overlords remotely cut your oxygen supply.

    Gameplay: Tactical Claustrophobia

Inspired by the “sub-horror” genre defined by titles like Iron Lung, the game forces you to interact with the world through a limited interface. You aren’t looking out a window; you’re staring at gauges, flickering monitors, and a series of tactile levers.

    • Manual Mastery: You must physically grab and operate the submarine’s machinery. Flipping locking-arms and setting drill bits feels heavy and deliberate, heightening the panic when things inevitably go wrong.
    • Limited Visibility: Navigation is a game of sensory deprivation. You rely on sonar and external cameras to avoid the jagged terrain—and whatever else might be hunting in the silt.
    • The Weight of the Deep: The sound design is a standout feature, filled with the groans of shifting metal and the rhythmic thrum of the engine that masks the sounds of the abyss outside.

    Short, Sharp, and Terrifying

The Oily Depths is designed as a focused, “short-form” horror experience, clocking in at around two hours. It’s the perfect length for a single-sitting descent into madness. Between the looming threat of oxygen depletion and the unsettling lore surrounding the corporation you serve, the game stays tense from the first hatch-seal to the final, crushing conclusion.

    Where to Play

The Oily Depths is available now on Steam for PC. To celebrate the launch, there is a 10% discount for early adopters who are brave enough to dive in during launch week.

“Fail your quota, and they’ll cut your oxygen. This is deep-sea horror. Obey or drown.”
