Gaming for Good: Green Game Jam 2026 Launches with 70+ Titles Fighting for Reefs and Rainforests

The global gaming industry is proving once again that entertainment can be a powerful force for planetary change. Timed perfectly with World Environment Day, Playing for the Planet has officially launched the 2026 Green Game Jam, marking the initiative’s largest and most ambitious campaign to date.

This year, 70 participating games are rolling out exclusive, eco-themed in-game activations, challenges, and events to an estimated 63 million daily active users worldwide. With even more major titles set to join the ranks in September, the 2026 jam is on track to shatter previous engagement records.

The Mission: Team Reef vs. Team Rainforest

For its seventh annual iteration, the Green Game Jam is shifting its focus to two of Earth’s most vital yet heavily threatened ecosystems: coral reefs and rainforests.

Participating studios have divided their efforts into two distinct factions, creating custom content designed to educate players and raise vital funds for real-world conservation partners:

  • Team Reef: Partnering with Oceana to combat destructive fishing practices and marine pollution, protecting the underwater ecosystems that support 25% of all marine life.
  • Team Rainforest: Partnering with the Rainforest Alliance to support integrated community forest management and combat deforestation driven by unsustainable agriculture.

From brand-new storylines and map overviews to limited-edition cosmetic items and metagame campaigns, these “green activations” integrate seamlessly into players’ favourite virtual worlds, turning casual gameplay into real-world environmental action.

Big Names, Massive Reach

The 2026 lineup represents a massive cross-section of the gaming world, spanning mobile, PC, and console platforms. Heavy hitters like Subway Surfers (SYBO), Angry Birds Dream Blast & Friends (Rovio), and June’s Journey (Wooga) are making a return, alongside highly anticipated debuts from iconic titles like Tetris (Playstudios) and Lords Mobile (IGG).

Notably, HTML5 gaming platform Poki has stepped up significantly this year, rallying 20 of its platform’s titles to introduce themed updates while pledging a direct portion of its revenue to the cause. Meanwhile, mobile giant Playtika has committed to a massive real-world impact, pledging to help secure over 314,000 acres of land in the Amazon rainforest.
