The West Coast’s ultimate celebration of gaming and geek culture is officially turning up the volume.
Show organisers ReedPop and Penny Arcade have just pulled back the curtain on a major highlight for this year’s convention: an epic, one-night-only concert lineup set to take over PAX West 2026.
If you are planning your Labor Day weekend layout, make sure your schedule has plenty of room for Friday night. The premier gaming festival is bringing its brand-new amusement-park-inspired theme, “PAX Land,” straight to the Seattle Convention Center from Friday, Sept. 4, through Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.
The Friday Night Lineup: Synthwave & Woodwinds
PAX West has always been about the intersection of community, gaming, and culture, and this year’s concert slate highlights exactly that. Organisers have locked in a powerhouse double-feature for Friday evening that bridges the gap between digital nostalgia and high-energy modern beats.
- Headliner: Magic Sword The acclaimed, masked synthwave trio—comprising The Keeper, The Seer, and The Weaver—will headline the night. Known for their massive hit “In the Face of Evil” (which boasts over 30 million Spotify streams), they are bringing their signature live instrumentation and cinematic electropop melodies to the PAX stage for an immersive, narrative-driven performance.
- Opener: Winds5 Kicking off the night is the local Seattle-based woodwind quintet, Winds5. This group is widely celebrated for transforming iconic soundtracks from video games, television, and film into lush, unique classical arrangements.
Beyond the musical acts, Friday night will also see the return of John Robertson’s The Dark Room, the beloved, chaotic, interactive live-action comedic video game experience that has become a staple for late-night convention laughs.
What to Expect at “PAX Land” 2026
Coming off a massive turnout last year that brought over 100,000 gaming enthusiasts to the Pacific Northwest, PAX West 2026 is shaping up to be even bigger. Under the “PAX Land” banner, attendees can explore a massive convention footprint that includes:
- Two Massive Expo Halls: Filled with hands-on demos of highly anticipated AAA releases, indie darlings, and the latest in tabletop gaming.
- The Creator Stage & PAX Art Hub: Two brand-new spaces added for 2026 designed to highlight industry personalities and professional community artists.
- Classic Features: The high-stakes Omegathon tournament, esports action at the PAX Arena, freeplay console areas, and sprawling community cosplay meetups.
